Eye Opening Moment
Nicholas has been driving me crazy lately. I know I've been short with him.
But it dawned on me - how unfair I've been to him - when I heard myself say, "Nico, thanks for a good day. When you behave, Mommy is happy."
Because how unfair is it that I make him responsible for my happiness?
Obviously, the current stress in my life (that's for another post) has got to be dealt with in a healthier manner.

17 spoke up!:
Ack...a moment I've lived myself.
I feel for you...poor you indeed.
oh Shauna...i'm sorry you have so much stress in your life right now. don't be too hard on yourself, though. i feel the same guilt when i lose my temper and yell at the kids, which is more often than i'd like...damn ppd is still not under control. but it happens, and the boys are fine...just give him some extra TLC.
hugs from where i am!
Sending lots of hugs and happy thoughts.
There is joy in obedience. That is true. :)
Sorry about the stress. Praying that it lifts soon.
WOW. How fricken right you are. Wow. You have opened my eyes, as well. Now they are going to cry.
Aw, hell, woman - how do we let life over take us like this???
I wish things were better for you right now, I have been there many times. Nut then I remind myself, I am the one that supposed to put the smile on their little faces ~ not the other way around.
(((Shauna))),
I've said such things. It's shocking too, like you're looking at "the others" in your head and wanting to silence them so only the good personalities can surface, lol.
Blessings,
~Toni~
I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Elliot pulled a similar thing on me awhile ago when she told ME to "be patient." They really are watching and listening, those little monkeys.
It's definitely harder to filter yourself when you're all stressed out. Definitely been there myself. Don't be too hard on yourself!
Hope everything gets better soon:)
Oh, I think we all have many moments (days!) like that. When I have a particulary bad day I always promise myself when I'm going to sleep that tomorrow will be better...I'll be more patient, more fun, happier...
Sometimes it works ;)
I think we've all been there. At least I know I have. In fact I'm having a rough time with my son too.
Hang in there!
I say the same sort of things... but I wouldn't be so hard on yourself... in a way it's how they learn they about how to behave - right?
stress be gone
We share more than a first name. Oh, I've had this same realization more than once... Hope the stress goes away.
Oh, have I been there!
My friend was telling her kid, "if you eat this cauliflower it will make mommy happy!" And the next morning the girl was asking for cauliflower and my friend couldn't figure out why she would want it at breakfast.
Her girl then said, "Mommy happy?"
Ugh, they get ya don't they!!
Hope things are going swimmingly now :)
