Makeover Monday #2
MoodSwingMommy invited us to participate in Makeover Mondays with her. My goal last week was to spend more time with Nicholas. My specific ideas on how to do this, and whether I was able to do each one, are below:
1. Pick him up from school 30 minutes early. I was able to do this 4 of the 5 days last week. Not bad. The day I didn't pick him up early, I fully intended to do so, but got caught by someone who 'just needed a minute' before I left. And of course, 'a minute' is never really a minute.
2. After putting Elise to bed, read 2 books to Nicholas before putting him to bed. This was very much a success. So much that one night I gave him the option of playing or reading (I was tired) and he shouted "Book time!"
3. Have him help me make dinner. Nope, didn't do this one at all. Can you say take-out and take-out leftovers? Yeah, that's what we were eating all week. I don't think having him pour the water into a bowl and then mix in the cheese powder to his Easy Mac counts as having him help make dinner.
I think I met my goal for last week. This week's goal will be the same. Because Gavin will be out 4 of the 5 nights this week. Again. Yes, this after he was out every night last week (Monday - Saturday). (But that's for another post.)

Want to join in the fun? Here's what to do:
- Choose a goal. (It can be a new one each week or something more long-term.)
- Write a Makeover Monday post to share your goal for the week ahead. State whether or not you accomplished your goal from the previous week. It's okay to brag! If you are working towards a long-term goal, report on your progress.
- Leave your link in the comments and I'll include you here.
- Spread the good karma by visiting other Makeover Monday participants to encourage and congratulate them on their own makeovers.
- Feel the love coming right back at you!
Don't let Monday be a downer!Start your week off right by celebrating your accomplishments and those of fellow bloggers.

8 spoke up!:
You did great! I sympathize on Dad being away this week -we're the same - so whatever makes it easy is my theme for the week ahead! My daughter loves to 'help' me cook - drives me nuts lol!
Wow! I'm so impressed. It was a great goal and I love the ways you accomplished it. Well done!!
Good for you! I have a hard time reading to my son at the end of the day too. He's so energetic that by the end of the day I just want to say goodnight! :-)
But that special time for him is so important! Thanks for reminding me of that.
I think I may be game for Makeover Mondays...but probably in a couple of weeks since today is shot.
Keep reading to him!! Especially if he's asking for it.
This so needs to be my Makeover Monday goal. It's harder than I want to admit. Very impressed with your accomplishments. I wouldn't mind seeing your weekly activities with your son; I think it would be inspiring and help keep me focused on the important stuff: my boys!
This is my first week playing Makeover Monday. We'll see how it works out. I'm totally long-term goaling it.
BTW, thanks for laughing at my "Chalk and Balls" title. My husband didn't even get it.
Good job, Shauna! And for the record, adding H2O to the Easy Mac totally counts as helping with dinner in my book!
Ugh on Gavin being away again. You are owed some serious "you" time when things let up for him!
That is great....a nice plan and creates routine for all
Thats awesome that you are doing so well with your goal. My goal is also the same for this week, although I have not posted about it (sorry). Last week was a huge success but this week I feel it slippin a little. Thanks again for the great idea. :)
